entertaining the thoughts of a Citrix acquisition by Microsoft (only speculation)

- Windows desktops are going away, Windows apps are as well

- utilize Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop to hang on to published apps in the azure platform

- consume Netscaler VPX as your azure engine of choice to replace the long history of proxy server and isa server and threat management gateway.   Microsoft needs this more than Cisco and with the nitro API, MS could hide all of the complicated parts within the azure dashboard

- make HTML5 mainstream for azure-based Microsoft apps

- use HDX adaptive transport (over UDP) to compete with PCoIP (VMware competition for the long-haul)

- incorporate ShareFile into OneDrive for Business to enhance it's positioning against Google G-Suite apps, using network connectors to bring in on-premise file server data will help with compliance concerns

- be thankful that GoTo products are are broken off since that would compete with Skype

- use Microsoft lingo and drop: Enterprise, Platinum, etc and go to X1, X3, X5 for feature plans

- work relentlessly and tireless with Citrix and Microsoft teams to fix roaming profile issues and reduce the size of this ecosystem of product offerings that should have never existed.  MDM yes, profile management no.

- move all Octoblu teams in with Microsoft Flow and get a solid IoT platform running in Azure to compete with Amazon offerings - tie in Cortona

- should Microsoft try again an the Windows phone market or just give in - if they intend to carry the Surface line of tablets over 5 years it would be wise to have a companion handheld compute device.  Otherwise, drop the Surface and let the OEM manufacturers handle this

- merge XenMobile and Intune - make it simple and compatible with all major OSes (drop Windows mobile from that list, not worth it)

- realize that Windows App Store was dead on arrival, drop it and make the acquisition of Citrix your launch point to make all apps (Windows, Cloud, iOS, Android) accessible through SSO (with Active Directory as your IdP)

ok, while starting to building the new xenapp 4.5 farm (knowing 5.0 is right around the corner) I've decided not to scrap XenServer Enterprise and give the latest beta with NIC bonding and SAN FC multipathing a shot for our XenApp VMs along with Citrix PVS 5.0 (btw, Dell Flexible Computing has updated their download site) http://www.dell.com/flexiblecomputing Right now I don't have a problem saying we'll use XenCenter to manage the XenApp hosts running XenServer since the PVS servers are running in VMware ESX 3.5 along with the rest of the backend infrastructure.. I thought I would be stuck with no room for any shared storage since the SAN is fully carved with vmfs3 volumes and place from a Xen LVM but with Provisioning Server I can just stream the vDisks to the XenApp servers without a need for any hdd being visible to those VMs. On a side note, the VNC-based implementation for the console in XenCenter is not so cool.. it "feels" like VNC versus a guest run

quick thoughts from some conversations today.. - why is there no wireless pxe booting? it should be straight forward to put this in bios.. - bios manufacturers should be bought out by the major companies such as Dell, HP, etc.. the innovation is really lacking and Phoenix's announcement of a hypervisor in bios is long overdue in hindsight.. the bios vendors should have had this underwraps when everything first started to get big. - with proprietary flash dead and solid state here to stay the bios could really get promising - place 802.1x wired and wireless in a newly revamped bios with an integrated hypervisor and I'll be happy. - this brings back memories of trying to find a 16mb cisco proprietary ISA flash card to build my frankenstein PIX box.. good thing the 501s came out before I spend the $600 on the card! while the bios vendors are at it, they should go ahead and carve up 4/8gb of storage the run their os of choice and our recovery partition.. sounds more an

There are many reasons why you would want to create Video-on-Demand library with a web interface.. training videos, past security recordings, news clips, etc.. My reason was different this weekend.. it is starting to become difficult to weed through all of the DVDs with children's show for my daughter. While she has no problems sorting through the DVDs and picking out a show to watch if we label it correctly, it still is time consuming and over time the discs become worn and damaged. I needed a way to create a video on demand library and have it easy to use for her. Since she can navigate around on the web just fine, I wanted to make it as simple as YouTube for point and click access to her shows.
